USB - Infill

Not-for-profit United South Broadway (USB) won the contract from the City of Albuquerque to survey the historic district of South Broadway. This development district, adjacent to Albuquerque’s downtown, was founded at the turn of the 20th century with rail yards and engine refurbishment facilities. 

Garrett Smith Ltd (GSL) was asked to design two single-family houses in the South Broadway community. GSL created two prototypes which utilized the Design Guidelines for Infill Housing 1999 and survey data. Both plans were designed to allow homeowners to add easily an extra bedroom. HD #1 is a two bedroom 900 sf residence. HD #2 is a three bedroom 1000 sf residence. Garrett Smith Ltd also developed a package of three styles of exterior detail for buyers to choose from. Residences were designed with a one car carport/garage determined by cost.
